In today's lesson, we were learning persuasive techniques.
We all made posters of the the techniques that was given by Mr Goooooooooooooodrich , then we went around the room to look at other's poster to learn all the different types of techniques. And they were :
Rhetorical questions - asking the audience/reader a question that is not meant to be answered and only make them think in their head.
Anecdotes - A short real incident story that links to the topic that you're talking about.
Cluster of three - three adjectives that make the sentence more powerful and effective.
Statistics - A number to back up your point.
Alliteration - The repetition of initial sounds in neighboring words, it makes the sentence sound a lot smoother and easier to read.
Personal pronounce - using words like 'you' , 'we', 'us' to get the audience involved .
Emotive language ( I think? can't remember..) - creating a atmosphere to make the audience feel the same as you.
etc...
We must use these techniques in our writings so it makes our writing more powerful, persuasive and forceful.
There are increasing number of youths and kids who have nothing to do on their days off from school. So this means that some of them just walk about the streets all day, bored. I believe that there should be more youth centres to entertain and give these kids something to do. This will discourage them from vandalism, crime and for some kids it could open opportunities which will change their lives forever. By opening youth centres you will not only change the behaviour of these kids but could help kids discover their bright, amazing, incredible, Talents which they may not know they even had. Personally I would like to go to a youth centre but as there are non-close to my area, I can’t. Opening youth centres will create more jobs in the local community. Youth centres could help kids to be better in school; they will have help and someone that can really make a difference. Opening a youth centre would mean a lot to me as I’m a young teenager myself and I know I would like to see one in my neighbourhood in the near future.

ReplyDeleteAnti social behaviour covers a wide range of activities and behaviour, which could mean different things to different people.
Anti social beahviour is when a person has behaved in a certain manner that caused harrassment or dstress to another person. This can include many types of behaviour and actions. Some serious behaviour can lead to being a criminal, such behaviour as, Verbal or racial abuse, harrassment, graffiti, dealing with drugs, verbally threatening another, and much more.
The solution to tackle anti social behaviour is by attending Youth offending services which they can engage with the young person and try to re-educate their way of life and behaviour.
dear local political party,
i am writing to you to let you know about a social issue that need to be sorted and improved.
there is small area of land near.................... It is abandoned and need to be improved as it could stop children hanging out on the streets. it could possibly be made into a park or youth club or even a football pitch. i'm am sure you do not want to be responsible for children hanging out on the streets in your neighborhood. its a silly, stupid and selfish idea that anyone could leave a beautiful peace of land abandoned when you could improve your neighborhood and help your neighborhoods social groups. if i was in charge i would want to improve as much as i can, wouldn't you?
yours faithfully

the fifa 11 cover to its target audience of teenagers. on the fifa cover, kaka is opening his mouth and clenching his fist. the reason the designer done this is because he wants kaka to look like he is roaring and celebrating as if he scored a goal. he has done this so that the target audience feels hyper and both you and the player feels passionate about the game.
Wayne Rooney is also presented ans very broad and butch. this shows that you have to be powerful to be a footballer and it is show as the to be stereotypical a mans game. the reason he does this is so the target audience feels exited. the effect on the audience is that they feel again exited; they are ready to play the worldwide sport, however feel strong in the image of Rooney and kaka's posture.
on the back cover it said: we are 11. whilst this being the year of the game being released but the amount of players your aloud on a football pitch. therefore being a very good pun. the designer has done this to create of teamwork. the effect on the audience is that they feel they are part of a team.

ReplyDeleteAnti-social behaviour includes abuse (verbal and physical) littering,Hate incidents where abuse involves race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability, graffiti Prostitution,. It can leave innocent citizens feeling intimidated, angry and frightened. It needs to be stopped.I suggest workshops;workshops in graffiti art, drama, boxercise, art therapy etc... Teenagers need a way to vent their emotions, that's why you see graffiti and teenagers drinking because they are trying to desperately express themselves. They could also then use the skills from the workshops in future situations.
Please take on board what I said , I really think it could help.
Thank you.

Dear Local MP,
ReplyDeleteI am writing to alert you of a problem in my local area; over the last few months there has been a rapid increase in vandalism which needs to be put to a stop as it’s making the area look foul, frightful and unattractive. I personally believe this is done because the juvenile teenagers are spiritless; they have nothing to do in their free time so, they chose to amuse themselves through vandalism. We could tackle this problem by setting up a youth club, as this will get youths of the streets and into something creative, fun and worthwhile. As you wouldn’t really want someone vandalising your property or personal belongings would you?
If this could be done it would be much appreciated,
Yours sincerely,
Najma Mohamed.

ReplyDeleteDear Politicians,
I have a problem I can’t get my head around; it just puzzles my brain. It would put my mind at ease if you could answer my questions and troubles in a reasonable answer. Okay, so premier league footballers get paid on an average weekly salary (keep in mind the word average) of £48,662-£81,444per week. This is a RIDICULOUS amount of money! On the other hand, a manual lorry driver receives an earning of £400-£600 a week. Now, as leaders of our country wouldn’t it be shameful to be noticeably and evidently unfair to your citizens? Footballers are there purely there for entertainment were as manual lorry driver’s shift things from point A to point B. Yet they still aren’t getting paid enough. Nurses are underpaid along with firefighters these people are lifesavers and yet you don’t have the audacity to respect them by paying them higher? Of course not you’re a highly respected and highly paid, so why would it bother you? Well ‘pal’ it bothers me! Their doing way more than just kicking a ball about and actually getting themselves a real education, which is something you ‘politicians’ go on a lot about. Take my letter of wisdom and passion into consideration and hopefully this will help influence you to stop pulling the wool over the public’s eyes and start looking suitable for our society.
Lots of love,
Dedicated

Dear Local Mp,
ReplyDeleteI am writing to you to adress a few issues that i as a citizen is having. Hopefully whilst reading this letter you will intend to take drastic action to the problems that the community are faced with.
Firstly, there are too many youths and delinquents hanging around on the streets at night, i believe as our leader in this community you should rise up and do something to keep them out of trouble. I would suggestmaybe setting up a local youth club that they could socialize and get along with each other whilst hanging around in an homely environment; the community would be reassured that not only is the streets safe but also the youths are being constructive of their time and also indoors.
I've also noticed that the percentage in vandalism and littering has risen in the last few months, i believe this is the case because there are not many bins laid around in the community , not only does it give the community an excuse to litter , it also gives them an idea that they're not going to be punished. Vandalism is occuring everywhere because the youths are now able to terrorise the streets after watching or either participating in the London riots, not only was it unacceptable; of the cause of action they had taken, they realised that they were setting examples to all the youths out there who want to take a stand to their community.
I felt that this letter has adressed a few issues that were needed to be adressed but also has given you something to think about.
Yours Sincerly,
Abdullahi.

ReplyDeleteIn the local area I live; burnt oak; there are barely any football pitches that people can play on. I would like a change and I would appreciate it if you help this happen, I would like you to make more decent football pitches that us young teenagers could play on without paying. The only pitches we got are appalling, dreadful and horrendous; how do you expect us to play on it? My mates and I are starting to get bored of football because of the terrible football pitches. If you put in more football pitches, I am sure people will love football again. My mates and I once went to power league(a football assosiation) which I think is a decent place to play football, however, when we were going past the reception they called us upon them, “What pitch are you playing on” asked the women at the reception. We said, “We don’t know”; they said, “You can’t play until you pay thirty-two pounds.” This shows that we have not got a good place to play, unless we pay. If you make football pitches, I am sure it will help people stay active and not waste all their time at home on their ps3 or x-box,and it can also help stopping uses of electricity. this could happen because they will be caught by the football and leave the laptop,TV,etc. This is an issue to me because I like to play football, however we don’t have anywhere to go unless we pay them money for an hour or two; we cant afford to pay them that much every two days, we won’t be carrying around money like that. This is important to me because there are lots of other people who would like better pitches, I would like burnt oak to be the first and I am sure that you will be happy after your generosity. I hope this comes to you and I hope you make this possible.
Sincerely
Junaid

ReplyDeleteDear local MP,
ReplyDeleteI am writing this letter to inform you about the economic impact that homelessness has on society. Operating and maintaining homeless support services programs such as homeless shelters, day centers, homeless medical services and so forth are extremly costly. The funding for these programs comes from us taxpayers and private donations. Yet, most of these programs are generally unfunded, which means that only the most basic of services can be offered.
Eventhough the most basic of services are offered many people that work hard and claim only a small amount of benefits live like ragdolls. The homeless community actually has a better living than us general workers.
I know that we can change this and I hope you are our voice.
Yours sincerly,
Akash Chhapia

ReplyDeleteDear Mr.....
ReplyDeleteI'm writing to inform you that there's a major problem that caused a lot of distressing accidents and troubles in Edgware.
In these years living in Edgware , I have always notice that there are accidents continuously to happen near or in the round-about. This always end up with people getting really bad injuries, leaving people's shops damaged which cost them a lot of money to rebuild, and it also causes a long traffic that makes people late to work and to school.
For students like me; who go pass the round-about to school in the morning, we are often late, which means we loses 99.8363% of our learning time which highly increase the chance of making us fail in our exams.
I'm sure you wouldn't want any of these things to happen to you or anyone in your family;so please sort this out as soon as possible. It wont take a long time to fix this problem since this can be easily sorted out by just putting some traffic lights there or enhance the round-about to decrease cars going pass each other in such a short distance.
Thank you for reading and I know you would do something about it in a short period.
Sincerely,
Stephany Chan

ReplyDeleteIn 1991, along with many others, a good number of who will live in East Hampshire. At the time, I was a member of their then Pension Scheme The 'C' Plan, which provided for a pension based on Final Salary.
I was not entitled to regular pension increments, but we were told that the scheme would continue. There was a history of such payments, the company was then perceived as being benevolent towards its retired employees, and this was mentioned frequently in the process of persuading us to retire early, though the discretionary nature of the increases was emphasised. For a few years this was the pattern of increments.
At the same time, the pension fund which underlies the scheme has prospered in a good investment environment, and has accrued a very large surplus some £700m. over what is actuarial required to fulfil its liabilities. As a result, the company has taken several contribution 'holidays', as the law allows.

ReplyDeleteDear whomever this may concern, im writing to congradulate you for your recent progress with making our bourough a safer place, but i'd like to add that im still not very happy with the current rate of crime; in my opinion it has reached an all time high, which does not make me safe, you have a resposibility to listen and take in to affect our communitys ideas , this will also give credit to our community; not just a person but all of us, this will be a morale boost for us too, our police service also needs some work; more of them need to patrol the streets of our borough, cctv, although good , will help catch the criminal but not stop it before it actually happens , where as police can apprehend and take control of the situation before it happens, as our local MP, I urge you to take a closer look at these issues and help fund this by informing the PM , Mr David Cameron.
